Introducing an all-new way to play COD Zombies
For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the introduction of an all-new zombie mode required a lot of information to be explained in a digestible and engaging way to a notoriously critical audience. When I was assigned to this project, I was tasked with creating something unique to make this deep dive more than just a typical blog post.
Drawing on my extensive knowledge of the Call of Duty universe, particularly the zombie lore, I incorporated narrative and story elements into the copy. This approach helped flesh out the world and get players excited about this all-new experience.
Narrative Introduction
Drawing from the immersive first-person narratives and journals scattered throughout Call of Duty games, I crafted a brief introduction to the new zombies mode. In it, an operator gives a firsthand account of the dire situation unfolding in the Exclusion Zone. The outlook is anything but hopeful, speaking to the challenges players will face in this all-new experience.
NEW FEATURES
The standout feature highlighted in our brief was the introduction of the new "open-world experience" for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies, along with story missions that followed the tone and lore from the previous game.
NEW ENEmIES
Along with the new features, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies of course needed to introduce some new enemies for players to face. I suggested our web content team create a bestiary and I wrote short blurbs to accompany them.
